To support Units of Study teachers with blended or virtual teaching, Lucy Calkins and her Teachers Higher Reading and Writing Project colleagues have developed resources to exist used with the Units of Study in reading, writing, and phonics. These resources supplement the print units and offer ways to adapt those units to virtual teaching environments.
Student-Facing Minilesson Videos
Nearly one,500 pupil-facing minilesson videos across the Units of Written report in reading, writing, and phonics. With these videos TCRWP staff developers will be "co-teachers" with you—they teach the minilessons on photographic camera, freeing yous up for the centre of the teaching: the alive conversations, conferring, pocket-sized group work, and shares y'all'll manage with your students.
Video Support for Teachers and Parents/Caregivers
A set of very brief videos for teachers are interspersed throughout the unit of measurement that advise and explain adaptations to the units. Teachers must have access to the print Units of Study to activate subscriptions to the Units of Written report Virtual Didactics Resource and to successfully teach the Units of Written report in remote learning environments.
Units Included for Each Grade Level and Series
TCRWP 2020–21 Suggested Scope and Sequence
Each yr the TCRWP publishes a recommended sequence of units for the year ahead. This year the recommended sequence reflects an awareness of the interrupted schooling that we all experienced in Spring 2020, simply besides recognizes that we don't notwithstanding have any business firm understanding of what 2020–21 will bring. The 2020–21 Suggested Sequence sometimes calls for teachers to start the year with the concluding unit from the previous grade and sometimes includes new units which we call Curricular Calendar units. The 2020–21 sequence likewise calls for some of the units that are available for purchase exterior the core Units of Study curriculum. Subscription Details
- Subscriptions are bachelor by class-level and series (reading, writing, and phonics each offered separately); attainable for the 2020–21 school year (July 20, 2020 – July 19, 2021).
- Subscriptions are not shareable. Each instructor must accept their own subscription.
- TCRWP Virtual Educational activity Resources subscriptions are available Merely to users of the Units of Report who have active Online Resource accounts and who accept registered their print Units of Study books in their Online Resources accounts. Educators will be required to register their impress units before they will be able to access corresponding UOS Virtual Teaching Resources (detailed instructions on how to annals are included in the frontmatter of the print Guides and Unit Books).
- Units included in each UOS Virtual Pedagogy Resource Subscription were called based on the TCRWP 2020–21 Suggested Sequence, also taking into business relationship how readily each unit of measurement could be adapted for virtual instruction.
